This chapter describes how to set-up EBF Files in your environment in a few simple steps including actions to be taken in your Azure tenant or file server environment. There is one sub chapter available for each data source.
If you want to connect to different type of data sources you need to go through the steps of all associated subchapters.
3.1 Use EBF Files with OneDrive / Sharepoint O365
- Prepare an AppConfig or similar configuration for the app in your UEM system and provide the current app version from the App Store via UEM system to your users’ device.
- Mandatory parameters (key/value pairs) are “customerName”, “licenseKey”, “licenseCount” and “serverlessConfig”. Add additional parameters as needed. A description of all the parameters can be found in chapter 02.3.
- Enter data for “customerName”, “licenseKey” and “licenseCount” as provided by your EBF contact person.
- If you want to use your O365 data sources (OneDrive/SharePoint) you need to create an Azure Application ID as described in chapter 02.10. Provide this Azure Application ID to your EBF contact person and he will create a configuration string for the parameter “serverlessConfig” for you.
- On first start of the app the user needs to create an encryption key and may activate Touch-/Face-ID for more comfort. Afterwards he needs to enter his Entra-ID credentials to connect to O365/Azure on opening the OneDrive or SharePoint container.
- The user should be able to see the folders and open/edit the files now.
3.2 Use EBF Files with OneDrive / Sharepoint On-Premise
- Prepare an AppConfig or similar configuration for the app in your UEM system and provide the current app version from the App Store via UEM system to your user’s device.
- Mandatory parameters (key/value pairs) are “customerName”, “licenseKey”, “licenseCount” and “serverlessConfig”. Add additional parameters as needed. A description of all the parameters can be found in chapter 02.3.
- Fill “customerName”, “licenseKey” and “licenseCount” as provided by your EBF contact person.
- If you want to use your OneDrive and/or Sharepoint On-Premise data sources you need to establish a VPN connection (port 443) for your user’s devices and allow EBF Files to use this VPN (see chapter 02.6). Provide the URL to your On-Premise server to your EBF contact person and he will create a configuration string for the parameter “serverlessConfig” for you.
- On first start of the App the user needs to create an encryption key and may activate Touch-/Face-Id for more comfort. Afterwards he needs to enter his AD credentials to connect to OneDrive/Sharepoint on opening the container. EBF Files will store the credentials for later logins to simplify usage of the app.
- The user should be able to see the folders and open/edit the files now.
3.3 Use EBF Files with SMB/CIFS file server
- Prepare an AppConfig or similar configuration for the app in your UEM system and provide the current app version from App Store via UEM system to your user’s device.
- If you want to use your SMB file share data sources you need to establish a VPN connection (port 445) for your user’s devices and allow EBF Files to use this VPN (see chapter 02.6). Provide the server URL to your file share servers to your EBF contact person and he will create a configuration string for the parameter “serverlessConfig” for you.
- On first start of the App the user needs to create an encryption key and may activate Touch-/Face-Id for more comfort. Afterwards he needs to enter his AD credentials to connect to the SMB shares on opening the container. EBF Files will store the credentials for later logins to simplify usage of the app.
- The user should be able to see the folders and open/edit the files now.
